Raising Ollie alone, hasn’t been an easy task but there was no other option. Thirteen years ago, I let his father walk away – without knowing the truth.

I always thought it was for the best. Maintaining the secret about Ollie’s true parentage seems like the right thing to do.

But a chance run in with Jacob stirs up all the emotions I thought I’d left in the past and sends my world crashing down around us.

Lydia and Jacob share a taboo summer love that results in her becoming a single mother and by all accounts, Lydia is killing the single mom game. She’s raised a bright and caring boy who wears his hear just a little too long, but that’s all right. Then Jacob comes back to town and things get…complicated.

I enjoyed this story but I didn’t care for Jacob the way I thought I would when I read the book synopsis. I love a good second chance romance and this was a good one, but Jacob was not the hero I wished for. He was possessive but unjustly so considering how things shook out with him and Lydia. He acted like a jerk a few too many times for my liking but Lydia wanted him and I wanted Lydia to have what she wanted.

What I loved most about this story was Lydia’s family. It was nice to see Jovie (Chance, book 1) as a high schooler and catch up again with her and Ewan and Amelia, not to mention the dirty ol’ grandma. Overall the story was good with solid secondary characters and villains.

It was an enjoyable read and I look forward to the next story.
