USA Today Bestselling Author, Jane Anthony, delivers a provocative tale of lust, love, and all-out war. Opposites attract when Dylan Masters — a golden boy from a wealthy political family — meets Darla Burke—smart-mouthed former bully with a big attitude—on their angst-fueled road from hate to love.
Rich. Spoiled. Cocky. Playboy.
Dylan Masters is the worst. Our only date ended with me doing the walk of shame with his taste still lingering on my tongue. I never expected to see him again . . . nor did I want to.
But when he walks into my restaurant the next morning, I have no choice but to serve him lunch with a smile. Turns out, Dylan isn’t just a date gone wrong—he’s the governor’s son. He’s as callous as he is gorgeous. A golden boy set up for a charmed life, and I’m nothing more than “the help”.
Yet it doesn’t stop his ravenous pursuit to get my attention. He expects me to worship him like everyone else, but he could choke on his silver spoon for all I care. Hate and love are two sides of the same coin. If he wants my heart, he’ll have to work harder.
In a world where cash is king, Dylan Masters finally found the one thing he wants that money can’t buy: me.

I’m unemployed and down to my last dollar—thank you stranger who bought my coffee when my card was declined this morning. If that wasn’t bad enough, I just T-boned the truck belonging to the guy I was meeting on a first date.
Ethan Hellman, small town sweetheart with a secret, and an instant—unbelievable—love for me despite me denting his truck.
It’s not that I don’t believe in love per se. It’s just that I’ve done the calculations—it won’t happen to me. And especially not now when I’m bouncing off rock bottom with the bruises to prove it.
But Ethan doesn’t seem to care about all that. He offers me a job, a place to live…and a rock on my finger. I just have to turn my back on my career, pretend to be giddy in love, and be the face of his new company. His constant sunshine makes me grumpy. It’s also kind of addicting. So I agree to his terms and find myself living a life I don’t even recognize.
Things are going surprisingly well when someone from my past reappears offering a similar lifeline. I’ll have to make some tough decisions that just don’t compute in my logical brain.
Ethan may have fallen first, but I’m afraid I’ve fallen harder.

Never did I think a girl like Gretchen Hawthorne would be the woman of my dreams.
She is stubborn, irritating, and can piss me off at the drop of a hat. But she is also sweet and has a vulnerability about her that she doesn’t allow many to see.
She let me in for a split second, and what I found was even more than I had bargained for. Her façade is nothing more than a mask to hide her fears.
One wild night in the barn at my cousin’s house, and I’m hooked.
She’s intriguing.
She’s beautiful.
But she also has it in her head that she and I will never work.
Which is ridiculous, and I vow to prove her wrong.
I’m Colton Thomas, and I’m stubborn too, and I do not give up easily.
She better hold on tight because I’m coming for her. And I plan to break down all those walls she’s built so high around her.

The stranger had a British accent, dark hair, funky glasses, and wore both an expensive cashmere sweater and a bored expression. He couldn’t have looked less local if he’d tattooed “I’m from away” on his forehead. “Do you know the Wi-Fi password, by any chance?”Of course I did; I’d installed it. “Nope.”OK, that was unnecessary. Don’t piss off the tourists, Jane. Jim’s pub couldn’t handle a one-star Yelp review from some asshole. He threw up his hands. “No sign posted with the Wi-Fi info. Nobody pouring drinks.” He let out an exasperated huff. “No wonder this place is a dying shithole, right? The bar, the whole town.”Strong words, stranger. Maybe I agreed, but I was allowed to think so because I lived here. He, however, could take his opinion and shove it straight up his ass.The need for caffeine was real. I stood, put my palms on the bar, and boosted myself over it. The stranger put his phone on the bar with an angry slap. “Are you kidding? Are you the bartender? You’ve just been sitting there ignoring me the whole time I’ve been here?”I almost wanted to say yes. Because that haughty, entitled tone in his prettily accented voice made his face a prime candidate for a fist.“I don’t work here,” I said flatly, although I did pick up shifts in the summers sometimes. “I just know the owner.”The stranger cocked his head and considered me. Changed tactics. “Do you know him well enough to grab me a beer?” He smiled, and it changed his whole damn face. He went from haughty and bored to…zing! There was a teasing tone in his wry voice now, complimented by curved lips and a flash of white teeth. A knowing, flirtatious glint in his dark eyes.Hmm. This was a person used to getting everything he wanted.Too bad for him that I hated people like that.Maybe I didn’t want a soda after all. Maybe I wanted something else. I slowly took a pint glass from the shelf and pulled a draft of Spotted Cow, all while making extreme eye contact with the stranger’s amused gaze. But instead of sliding the beer over the bar, I walked around it, grabbed my laptop, and strolled slowly to the back office, enjoying an enormous gulp of the beer on my walk. I ignored his “what the hell” and called over my shoulder, “Enjoy your stay in our shithole town.”

Lauren Helms is a romance author her nerdy and flirty contemporary words. Lauren has forever been an avid reader from the beginning. After starting a book review website, that catapulted her fully into the book world, she knew that something was missing. While working for a video game strategy guide publisher, she decided to mix what she knew best–video games and romance. She decided to take the plunge and write her first novel, Level Me Up. Several published novels later, Lauren created PR company, Indie Pen PR, to help other authors promote their books.
Lauren lives in Indianapolis, Indiana sharing her love of books and video games with her own Gamer Boy husband and three young kid nerds who will hopefully grow up to share the love of things that united Lauren and her husband on their own happily ever after.
Ben I know why I lost her. I was too serious, I was too practical. I was too busy thinking I knew what she wanted without asking her. Over time, this wore on her. All she wanted was to be heard. She wanted someone to support her big exciting ideas, I was supposed to do that, but I shut them down. No wonder she handed me my ring back and left town. No wonder she married someone else, leaving me with memories of sunsets at the beach and the future I had planned for us. I went on and built my life without her. My father and I opened the second division of Sunset Builders in Las Vegas, and to my surprise, I stayed busy, almost busy enough not to notice the loneliness. That was until one day I was called to do a quick bathroom and kitchen remodel for a woman who lived on Las Vegas Boulevard. I shouldn’t of gone, I should have sent one of my men because when I arrived, and the door opened, every memory I’d had of Jessica came flooding back. If I’d learned anything in her absence it was that anything worth doing was worth being done well, and anything worth having was worth fighting for. I just hoped she’d give me a second chance. Jessica Ben had always been right to keep me grounded. I should’ve listened because the falls didn’t hurt as bad that way. I wanted a bigger life, in a bigger brighter place. I never appreciated the beauty of living in a small town with a huge support system. Instead, I left town without so much as a goodbye, chasing a silly dream. I married the man who promised me the sun, moon, and the stars, but delivered blinding blows. I spent years hiding in the dark so that no one would see my bruised face. Most days, I thought I’d die before I escaped the nightmare. I dreamed of running, it was my only way out. Then I got news my grandfather had passed. He left me money and a gorgeous condo in Vegas. I had a plan. I would upgrade the condo, sell it, and fade away into the sunset, all while my husband was gone on a business trip. Little did I know that Ben would show up on my doorstep. He swore we could make our dreams real, but this time I was the grounded one. I could only see how we would never work. I’d made too many mistakes and love was terrifying.
It took me a while to figure out how I felt about Into the Sunset when I finished reading it. I didn’t really like either of the main characters. Jessica had every right to leave but she was as guilty of not voicing her concerns and wants and needs as Ben was of not asking. Besides, they were very young and needed some time apart.
At least Jessica lived her life, regardless of the quality of that life instead of just holing up and becoming a bitter workaholic. I always love a second chance romance but the truth is that I didn’t feel a connection between Ben & Jessica, certainly not one that made me want their happy ending. Over the course of the story I did root for them but I never really felt like they deserved it or had earned it.
Overall Into the Sunset was a good read. I really loved the friendship between Jessica and Kate, and I loved how fiercely protective Ben’s sister was when it came to his former flame. She’s a fierce one and added some much needed spunk to the story.
