After returning home due to her father’s illness, Elise Phillips reunites with her college friends, including Luke Long. Luke was a player back then, and Elise had always prided herself on not being another notch on his bedpost.Luke is still gorgeous though, and he knows it. And he checks all her boxes—intelligent and sexy with muscles and a hard body.
Following a night of beer and shots, her resistance runs out, and he finally does check her box. And Elise knows that it can never happen again.
Luke had always thought of Elise as the pretty girl that was friends with his roommate’s girlfriend, but now she’s all grown up. When their night of passion rocks Luke’s world he realizes he must have her again.
The two enter a friends-with-benefits relationship with the agreement that they’re just going to have fun. The only thing is, with mutual friends involved, they have to hide their indiscretion.
But what harm can come from a dirty little secret?
Dirty is the story of Elise and Luke. Back in college Elise promised herself that she would NEVER become a notch on Luke Long’s bedpost. He was a first class player and she wanted no part of that.
But ten years later she returns to her hometown to care for her sick father and who does she run into, but delicious Luke Long? Too bad he’s the same guy he was back then and Elise is still not interested.
Until she is.
One round of beer leads to a round of pool, some shots and a night of white hot sex.
Luke is changed somehow, that night together meant something to him and now he wants more. But Elise looks at him and sees that he’s still not the guy to take a chance on, so they enter a friends with benefits arrangement which makes up the majority of Dirty.
I enjoyed the story for what it was, a fun, steamy, uncomplicated romance. That was the good part, watching Luke come to terms with his own feelings and Elise coming into hers. What I didn’t enjoy was the fact that these characters seemed really immature for their ages and that made it hard for me to care about them as much as I should. The whole secret thing really took away from the story to me because it’s demeaning and it serves no purpose. That’s how you know these people are immature, because adults don’t/shouldn’t let their friends dictate their relationships.
Maybe that’s why I’m so hard on this book and R.L. Kenderson, this was a good story and throw in the bit of diversity, I had high hopes. I liked Dirty quite a bit, but I didn’t love it.
Finally. That’s the word that springs to mind since I handed everything off to Amazon and waited for my congratulatory email. Best Of My Love has taken some time to finish because life conspired against me, but now that it’s done I’m happy and excited, and ready for the world to see it.
