Release Date: January 16, 2018

A QUIRKY RAY OF SUNSHINE BREATHES NEW LIFE INTO A LONELY WIDOWER IN THIS DEBUT NOVEL BY ROBIN HILL.

Be the butterfly, Frankie…

Francesca Valentine would rather swear off chocolate than go on vacation solo, but she made a promise to her late father to come out of her shell and live a little. When her best friend bails on their annual girls’ trip, she vows to do just that, but her plan is foiled when the hotel loses her reservation. Alone and stranded in Austin, Texas during one of the world’s largest music festivals, she’s rescued by a mysterious stranger, and an unexpected friendship blossoms.

Ten years after losing his family in a tragic accident, Darian Fox is finally back on his feet. The onetime rock star turned successful indie label-owner is content with the isolated life he’s created for himself and wants to keep it that way. But when he’s forced to travel to Texas on behalf of his company, he finds it’s hard to be alone in a city overrun with people. He meets the beautiful, magnetic Francesca and discovers alone is the last thing he wants to be.

The unlikely pair form a bond that elevates them from merely existing to living a life less ordinary. But the lines of friendship quickly blur, and when Francesca’s true feelings surface, Darian will have to decide between breaking her heart and breaking the promise he made to the family he lost. With his own heart ruled by guilt, does Francesca even stand a chance?

…Spread your wings and fly.
WAITING FOR THE SUN is part one in a two part duet. Part two, RIDERS ON THE STORM, to follow. Due to mature content, both installments are recommended for readers 18 and up.

Waiting for the Sun was a complicated read for me. I started out bored and then interested and then really interested, but somewhere along the way there was more boredom. The writing was solid and the story, though a cliffhanger, was also good. But I just didn’t feel any connection with either of the main characters.

I really enjoyed the way Robin Hill laid out the surroundings because it gave the story that immersive feel that I crave. What I also enjoyed was the background Darian and Frankie. They were both lonely and in pain from loss and their meeting, totally by chance, felt like one of those moments written in the stars where you knew it was a special moment, even at the time. Throw in a bunch of great music, and Waiting for the Sun is a pretty good read.

This story was unexpected but I’m glad that I took the time to read it…even if it did end in a happy for now ending. You’ll have to wait for book two if you want to know how it all ends…I hope.

“Wow. I loved it. Yep!!! You guys were right about this one. Totally reminiscent of our old school indie feels!! I mean… from the “meet-cute” to the “just hanging out as friends” to the obvious attraction, and the TOTALLY believable push-pull (and all the heartbreaking history behind it). I believed it. Felt every “feel” and especially the “whys” of this emotional journey.” – Maryse, Maryse’s Book Blog

“This is a debut novel, but leaves out no element of a romance; swoony, wit, charm, funny moments and emotional. It tells a chocolate mousse love story: fluffy and delicious on the surface and then three bites in (or fifty pages) you realize how deep and rich it really is.” – Bestselling Author Emma Scott, Forever Right Now

“I laughed. I swooned. I raged. I swooned. And I really liked this book.” – Paige, A is for Alpha B is for Books

But can Cameron finally let go and risk that last piece of himself? Will honest love be enough?

I staggered onto the street, the chill of the late autumn air creeping into my bones. The yellow glow of speeding vehicles blurred into a long never-ending light.

“I’ll never let you go.”

I rubbed my thumb against the ring on my finger. Today was the day. The day he would have been born. The day our baby …
And then I saw her.
Red hair curling down her back.
A white dress, billowing in the breeze.
She was about ten feet ahead in a group of three. Two other women I didn’t know.
My chest tightened. My throat constricted.
I grabbed at the wall of the building next to me, but my hand couldn’t make purchase. It slammed against the ground, my body weight behind it, but I didn’t feel the sting, didn’t feel the pain.

Bea.

“Wait!” I pushed to my feet, darting between shadows of people, my eyes on the red hair moving so far in front. “Please!”
I ran, my breath coming shorter. Too much whiskey. Too much love—both were the culprits and I didn’t give a damn. Because I didn’t know how, and I didn’t know why, but she was here. My Bea. She’d come back.
My feet pounded against the pavement, my soles slapping on the concrete. People turned to look, but for once, I didn’t care. Let them look. I wanted to laugh, a crazy, maniacal laugh. Let them look all they want.

Bea.

It was her.
I was sure of it.
It was her—
And then she turned around.
And for one glorious second, it was her. The woman I loved.
The woman I saw every time I closed my eyes, and sometimes when they were open, too.
The woman who’d own my heart forever.
“Hey,” she said.
But her voice—it wasn’t right.
I shook my head. No.
“Hey.” She tried again, but her smile was big. Too big.
Bea never smiled like that.
Nausea churned in my gut.
“Aren’t you that guy from the—”
Bile raced up my throat. I doubled over, clutching at my waist, and emptied the contents of my stomach into the gutter. Acid burnt the back of my tongue, and I coughed and spluttered, wiping at my mouth.
It wasn’t Bea.
No matter how many times I thought I’d seen her during the last six months, it was never Bea.
And as I stared at my own vomit, wanting her to be there, needing her to be there, I wished that just once I could pretend she was. That for one night, I could hold her in my arms again, stroke her long, red hair, and tell her everything would be all right.
“You guys go ahead,” the redhead told her friends. She placed a cool hand on my back, bending to my level. “Are you okay?”
“No,” I croaked. “I was s’posed to be a father. Today.” My baby. I would have met my baby today. Our baby.
She gave a smaller smile this time, and damn, she looked like her. “My name’s Giselle.”
“I’m Cam.” I straightened, the world sliding as I overbalanced, then corrected myself. “I have to go …”
“No.” She linked her hand in mine. “Let me take care of you.”
And I shouldn’t have. But I was so tired of fighting, of blocking out the past, that I let her lead me to her hotel room, let her pour me another drink, let her take off my clothes.
We’re so incredibly lucky, babe.” I pressed a kiss to the soft skin of Bea’s neck.

“The luckiest.” She smiled up at me, tossing her hair out of her eyes. “The luckiest people in the world.”

Only, it turned out that we weren’t.
Because seven weeks after that positive pregnancy test, Bea died.
And I’d never let her go after that.

After the devastating loss of my wife and daughter, I did everything in my power to guard my heart, making everyone, including myself, believe I no longer had one. I focused on my work and kept everyone at a distance. It was the only way I could face the day.

I had no time for distractions, but the day Langley, my legal assistant, asked for help with her custody battle there was no way I could refuse. When I was at my worst, she was there to pick up the pieces, making sure I didn’t lose the only thing I had left—my career.
Now, it was my turn to ensure she didn’t lose the one thing she cared about most—her children.
I promised to help, but I had no way of knowing that one promise would turn my entire world upside down. With the help of her two kids, she chiseled away at the walls I’d worked so hard to build, and I found myself wanting the one thing I thought was out of my reach—another chance at love.

Leslie Wilder grew up in a small town in West Tennessee. A country girl at heart, she’s always thought that life is too short, but she had no idea how short it really was until her brother passed away in 2014. She’s always been an avid reader, loving the escape only a great book can give, and wondered if she had what it took to write one of the wild romances she’d come to adore. With the support of her family and friends, she published Inferno: A Devil Chaser’s MC, one year after her brother’s death. With him in mind, she fulfilled her lifetime dream of writing. Since then, she’s completed the Devil Chaser’s Series and continued on with the Satan’s Fury MC Series. She has so many stories in her head, and can’t wait to share each and every one.
Leslie has been blown away by the support of her readers, appreciating every message, review, and encouraging word she’s received over the past year. She looks forward to continuing this journey with them for years to come.

LIVE ~ His Best Mistake by Lucy King

ABOUT:

Is it too much to ask for a relationship that works?

When Stella Grant realises her perfect romance is a lie and that she’s the other woman, she flees to her remote cottage in the Highlands to lick her wounds.

Billionaire currency trader Jack Maclean has nothing but contempt for the woman who stole not only his sister’s fiancé but quite possibly a family heirloom to boot. Nonetheless, he wants answers and he intends to get them. A quick trip north should do the trick. Never in a million years could he have predicted a kamikaze sheep and inclement weather would leave him stranded.

Jack might be gorgeous but Stella isn’t in the market for a man, especially one who hates her. No matter how attractive he finds her Stella is the very last person Jack should want. The trouble is, they’re all alone and the chemistry is irresistible, and, well, what happens in Scotland stays in Scotland, right?

His Best Mistake is the story of Stella, a courtroom artist and Jack, a currency trader. Stella is nursing a broken heart and has taken to her cottage in the Highlands to get over a broken heart and learning that she’d played the role of the Other Woman. She was painting away her pain when a strange vehicle drove by her property and ended up in an accident. The driver was gorgeous and gruff, and it turns out, the brother of her former flame’s fiancée. He showed up to read her the riot act, and Lucy King did a good job of making him a first glass jerk from the beginning. Too bad for Stella, he didn’t stay a jerk.

After waking up to an empty bed after a night of spectacular loving, Stella feels both disappointed and relieved. At least until a few weeks later when she gets the shock of her life. Lucy King made this story enjoyable by switching up the roles a bit. Though Stella did have self-esteem issues, she was the strong one in this story. The one who tried to make herself better and do better while Jack was stuck in a rut of mourning and misery. His Best Mistake should have been a depressing read and at times it was mighty frustrating, but overall this was a fascinating story about getting what you want when you least expect it.

There were plenty of times I just wanted Stella to throw her arms up and kick Jack to the curb, because he really was pretty bad for most of the story. He mourned, and felt guilty in those rare moments that he actually gave a damn about the woman in his life today, and after a while I just found it hard to have any sympathy for him. At first I was worried that Stella would be a doormat because of how easily she gave in to some of his demands—even though she had a valid reason for doing so—but it turned out that she was determined to feel more confident, to be better and do better. That’s an admirable trait in any woman but especially for a mom to be.

If I could fix anything other than Jack in His Best Mistake, it would be the cover. Not to get all nit-picky but it gives away the plot which takes that surprise away pretty quickly and there wasn’t much drama otherwise.

ABOUT:

Heartbreaking to heartwarming…stories of love and redemption, trust and second chances.

It started out as an escape…
Help one sad and lonely widower get his life—and his family—back together again while she hid from her past. But Jane Watts didn’t expect to fall for the cowboy next door. Nor did she anticipate he’d fall for her in return.

It was supposed to be an easy out…
The booze, the brawls, the bull riding. But Mike Toryn didn’t ask to be saved by his secretive neighbor. Nor did he expect that he would want to save her in return.

What should have been uncomplicated and temporary had suddenly become profound and heartbreaking. And neither Mike nor Jane did heartbreak, not ever again.

From the Rocky Mountain contemporary romance series:
Book 1 – Always Remember
Book 2 – Terms of Surrender
Book 3 – A Time to be Tender

This story was surprisingly good, if a little slow and quite heavy at times, but A Time to be Tender didn’t suffer for it. This is the story about two people, Jane and Mike, who needed each other more than they realized. Both have been dragged through hell, and only with the help of each other, will they find their way back to a life in the light.

Mike lost the love of his life, his wife, and he just completely fell apart. Spectacularly fell apart to the point where a social worker came in and took his twin girls from him. Instead of working hard to get it all back, Mike went in the other direction, drinking and fighting, oh and bull riding. Because you know, that’s safe.

Jane, well Jane has been through even more and the stubborn woman refuses to talk about it. With anyone. I won’t give away her secrets because they are a really big part of A Time to be Tender, but it is a doozy. But thanks to her meddling mama, she and Mike start spending time together and they both begin to feel better.

The thing I liked about this story was that it didn’t read like your traditional romance. The build was slow, as it should be between two broken people, but even though it was rarely mentioned, you could see the affection building. The trust and eventually, the love.

Jane was a real treat because her insecurities were very real and once you find out why, completely understandable. It wasn’t some perceived problem that makes the reader roll her eyes and skim ahead. If I had any complaint it would be that I had to wait until the end of the story to find out what happened to Jane. I just felt like if that reveal had come sooner, it would have been more satisfying.
