Miley and Kellan are back and this time…well this time is even better than the first go round! The first book, Glitter, was a wild ride of emotions, highs and lows, happiness and sadness, breakups and makeups and a wicked love triangle. Glitter was like your first rush of love and lust, hot and fast and out of control.

Sparkle though? Sparkle is a grown ass love story and I absolutely loved it. Miley and Kellan have matured in a way that just felt organic and true to the characters I met in Glitter. He’s still got a swear word for every occasion which is near and dear to my heart, but this is the super hot bad boy all grown up and centered and ready to love his woman the way she deserves.

And Miley, poor Miley grew up too but in a different way. That kind of longing to be loved is an intoxicating thing and when you think you have it, you hang on to it and ignore everything else. But she learns about herself through a tragic event and becomes better and stronger for it.

I loved how Miley and Kellan did grow and mature but I appreciated the fact that they did start this process together, that they were both on the road to redemption and a better life before they reunited. It felt more real and like they had a better shot at survival this way. In Glitter they were Dawson & Joey, hanging on to what they always pictured the future to be. In Sparkle, they are Joey & Pacey, grown and loving and confident that they are right together and for each other.

Alyne Hart knocked this duet out of the park and I’m so happy to have gotten an advanced copy that I timed to finish at the exact right time so I could remember the exact goofy grin on my face as I finished the last few chapters this morning.
