A Winter Romance EVENT!
As you all know the life of an indie author is…never ending. In addition to my “day job” which also consists of writing all day, and then turning around to weave happily ever after stories into the wee hours of the morning is exhausting and incredible. Then there is book promo which can be a monster if you don’t have the right people helping you out.
Which brings me to my point. The folks at Ropin Romance are just some of the people who help me out and this Friday and Saturday (that’s the 20th & 21st for those of you in need of specifics!) they’re hosting a ROMANCE ONLY event…A Winter Romance!

Sweet Poison ~ Cocktail Recipe
I’m trying to become more active on my blog so here we go…let’s see what happens!
If you know, or think you know, anything about my alcohol preferences it’s that rum is my least favorite. I find it too sweet and I don’t like to clutter up my drinks with lots of sugary flavors to mask the taste of the booze.
Enough about what’s wrong with rum though, right?
I decided to go ahead and bite the sugary bullet when I came across the recipe for Sweet Poison. I’m not sure about the origin of this cocktail but I’d guess super tropical or some metropolitan bartender whipped it up for a summer cocktail special. It was…surprisingly alright.
Needless to say I was in the minority when I introduced this cocktail on Girls’ Night. All of my sugar lovin’ girls were giddy over this concoction because it is chock full of alcohol but it doesn’t taste like it.
The exact opposite of yours truly.
The good news is that it is pretty tasty AND if you use fresh squeezed pineapple juice (so that you know it’s the real thing with no added sugar) it’s not the kind of sweet that makes your jaws clench.
The even better news is that you don’t need a ton of fancy cocktail mixing equipment to make this drink. All you need is a cocktail shaker, cocktail glasses and, if you’re weights & measures challenged…a jigger.
What you need:
1 Pineapple wedge
Pineapple juice
2oz. Coconut rum
1 oz. Blue curacao
1 oz. Light rum
Ice
Mix it: Toss ice, rums and blue curacao into your cocktail shaker. Shake what your mama gave you and strain it into the cocktail glass. Fill the rest with your (fresh) pineapple juice and garnish with the pineapple wedge.
You can double, triple or quadruple the recipe as needed but part of the fun is having someone play bartender…at least until we can afford that Tom Cruise in Cocktail bartender.
