ABOUT:
After dumping her boyfriend, Nicole Franklin impulsively jumps on a plane and heads to Europe. Sure, money and a job would have been nice to line up first. Even a visa, for that matter. So now she has to play tour guide at an Outlander experience for the most obnoxious man on the planet. Until she stumbles into the wrong bed in the middle of the night and wakes up in Harrison’s arms. Now his family thinks they’re engaged, and the entire village is betting on how long before she’ll be running for the hills.
Harrison Troy has a reputation in the town for burning through assistants. And the bubbly new one he’s just hired is likely no different. But his family quickly has them “engaged.” He should be upset, but she’s the perfect buffer for his interfering family. She says she doesn’t need another man in her life–even if he comes with a castle–and that’s fine with him. So why can’t he stop thinking about the woman who is charming everyone in the town, and maybe even him?

ABOUT:
Is it too much to ask for a relationship that works?
When Stella Grant realises her perfect romance is a lie and that she’s the other woman, she flees to her remote cottage in the Highlands to lick her wounds.
Billionaire currency trader Jack Maclean has nothing but contempt for the woman who stole not only his sister’s fiancé but quite possibly a family heirloom to boot. Nonetheless, he wants answers and he intends to get them. A quick trip north should do the trick. Never in a million years could he have predicted a kamikaze sheep and inclement weather would leave him stranded.
Jack might be gorgeous but Stella isn’t in the market for a man, especially one who hates her. No matter how attractive he finds her Stella is the very last person Jack should want. The trouble is, they’re all alone and the chemistry is irresistible, and, well, what happens in Scotland stays in Scotland, right?
His Best Mistake is the story of Stella, a courtroom artist and Jack, a currency trader. Stella is nursing a broken heart and has taken to her cottage in the Highlands to get over a broken heart and learning that she’d played the role of the Other Woman. She was painting away her pain when a strange vehicle drove by her property and ended up in an accident. The driver was gorgeous and gruff, and it turns out, the brother of her former flame’s fiancée. He showed up to read her the riot act, and Lucy King did a good job of making him a first glass jerk from the beginning. Too bad for Stella, he didn’t stay a jerk.
After waking up to an empty bed after a night of spectacular loving, Stella feels both disappointed and relieved. At least until a few weeks later when she gets the shock of her life. Lucy King made this story enjoyable by switching up the roles a bit. Though Stella did have self-esteem issues, she was the strong one in this story. The one who tried to make herself better and do better while Jack was stuck in a rut of mourning and misery. His Best Mistake should have been a depressing read and at times it was mighty frustrating, but overall this was a fascinating story about getting what you want when you least expect it.
There were plenty of times I just wanted Stella to throw her arms up and kick Jack to the curb, because he really was pretty bad for most of the story. He mourned, and felt guilty in those rare moments that he actually gave a damn about the woman in his life today, and after a while I just found it hard to have any sympathy for him. At first I was worried that Stella would be a doormat because of how easily she gave in to some of his demands—even though she had a valid reason for doing so—but it turned out that she was determined to feel more confident, to be better and do better. That’s an admirable trait in any woman but especially for a mom to be.
If I could fix anything other than Jack in His Best Mistake, it would be the cover. Not to get all nit-picky but it gives away the plot which takes that surprise away pretty quickly and there wasn’t much drama otherwise.

ABOUT:
One minute, pregnant Leah Andrews is throwing up over the side of a yacht and the next, she’s married to party boy Brooks. It’s an arrangement born of sheer desperation to save her job, but now the tabloids are all over them, their friends are running a pool betting on whether they’ll actually stay married until Baby Day, and worst of all, she and her new husband might just be falling for one another. But they belong in opposite worlds. It’ll never work.
Billionaire app developer Brooks Larson lives his life on the light side. Until he tries to play hero and claims to be Leah’s husband. Now he’s up to his ears in Lamaze classes, baby powder…and unexpected marital bliss. But he’d make a rotten husband and horrible father. Leah and the baby deserve so much better. Add in major baby daddy drama and the whole situation is the worst idea EVER. But sometimes those bad ideas might just be the best ones.
Each book in the Winning the Billionaire series is STANDALONE:
* 69 Million Things I Hate About You
* The Billionaire’s Unexpected Baby
After reading 69 Million Things I Hate About You, I was excited to read this story about Leah and Brooks. Leah is the girl you know as the ‘good girl’. She toes the line, reeks of responsibility and rarely does anything shocking. So imagine her surprise when she ends up pregnant after a totally out of character one night stand. Unable to contact her partner for a night, Leah accepts her friend Kiersten’s invitation to celebrate the christening of her first baby…on Brooks’ yacht.
And Brooks is…well yummy is the first word that comes to mind. Insecure, is the second. But being handsome and rich, he oozes confidence and only those who know him can see below the surface. But when he meets Leah he’s smitten, even though she’s pregnant, which right away gives him a few extra points in my book.
After an incredible kiss under the stars though, Leah hears no more from Brooks and though she’s sad, it doesn’t matter. Until the Catholic school where she teaches has a problem with a single mother-to-be. So that sets up our marriage of convenience plot nicely. And this is where The Billionaire’s Unexpected Baby really gets going. Mostly.
Unlike the first book in this series, I didn’t connect to this one and I didn’t find it as fun. Kira Archer, of course, knows romance so it is still a good read but it was missing that something that made 69 Million Things such a pleasure to read. For instance, I never really understood why Brooks felt so unworthy. I mean it was a pretty big part of the plot but it never really explained it. I think that would have made the great guy Brooks turned out to be even more satisfying, but it didn’t take away from the plot.
There’s a twist, there’s heat and there is romance. This book has everything and it’s done beautifully so I can’t really complain, but the first book simply blew me away, hence the 3.75 star review.

ABOUT:
Spencer Westerly is his own man. He didn’t need his father’s money to build his wildly successful tech company—and he doesn’t want to deal with the fallout from old family secrets. But as much as Spencer wants to avoid Westerly drama, his grandmother—the family matriarch—is determined to pull him back into the fold. And she’s discovered the perfect lure: his college sweetheart, Hailey.
Although she broke his heart, Hailey is still the only woman he’s ever loved. Now that she’s back and looking as desirable as ever, Spencer is determined to get a second chance.
A lot has changed for Hailey Tiverton. The only thing that hasn’t? The inexplicable pull she feels toward Spencer. When they were younger, his work was his priority. Now, he’d better be willing to prove that, this time, love comes first…
I’ll let you know right up front that I am a pretty big Ruth Cardello fan. Also, I got a copy of this from NetGalley for a review!
From the beginning of Up for Heir, I was pretty sure that I would hate Delinda. She made it easy, by being so blatantly manipulative. The old woman has a pretty fractured family, but most of it isn’t her fault, and now that she’s older and lonely, she wants nothing more than to have them all back into the fold.
Too bad she never heard the old adage about catching more flies with honey.
Delinda wants Spencer back in his life and she sees his old college girlfriend as the quickest route to her goal. But I don’t think even Delinda counted on falling in love with Hailey or her niece Skye, which made it easier to like her. More importantly, I understood her and I LOVED the way Hailey managed to get through to her.
Now on to Spencer and Hailey.
Boy, oh boy did these two give me a headache! Hailey with all of her second guessing—though I understood her reasons—was like a bad roller coaster ride. And Spencer, yeah dude, we get it. Your mom is a big ol’ liar and gave you some issues. But you’re a grown man so suck it up and get over it.
You could tell right away that feelings still lingered between them, but they couldn’t get out of their own way long enough to make it happen! Honestly though, I liked Spencer and I wanted him to find forgiveness and reconnect with his family, but if I’m being honest I still didn’t think he deserved Hailey. The way he dropped the ball in college and the way he just jumped to conclusions, doesn’t sound like a guy in love…no matter what the photos say.
I enjoyed Up for Heir, a lot. Despite the fact that both main characters kind of worked my nerves, I had a good time reading this book and it only took me about a day to finish it.
Now I’m very curious about Brett’s story, so I’m going back and getting a copy of In the Heir!

ABOUT:
After personal assistant Kiersten Abbott wins sixty-nine million dollars in the lotto, she suddenly has more than enough money to quit her impossibly demanding job. But where’s the fun in that? She decides to stay and exact a little revenge on her insufferable ass of a boss.
Billionaire Cole Harrington quickly figures out something’s afoot with his usually agreeable personal assistant. When he finds out about the office pool betting on how long it’ll take him to fire her, he decides to spice things up and see how far he can push her until she quits.
The game is on, with everyone waiting to see who will crack first. But the bet sparks a new dynamic between them, and soon they realize they just might have crossed that fine line between hate and love.
What can I say? I loved this story!
I admit that after the first scene I was more than prepared to spread a little bit of hate around for Cole, I mean seriously! Though I did warm up to Cole pretty fast, he was infuriating, high handed, bossy and a completely unreasonable employer. No matter how well the job pays, and Kiersten agrees almost from the beginning, just as she agrees that he is the hottest thing walking around the whole damn city.
If only he wasn’t her boss. And a total pain in the ass. Continue reading RELEASE DAY Review ~ 69 Million Things I Hate About You – Kira Archer
