ABOUT:

She thought she could never go home again. Kennedy Reynolds has spent the past decade traveling the world as a free spirit. She never looks back at the past, the place, or the love she left behind—until her adopted mother’s unexpected death forces her home to Eden’s Ridge, Tennessee.

Deputy Xander Kincaid has never forgotten his first love. He’s spent ten long years waiting for the chance to make up for one bone-headed mistake that sent her running. Now that she’s finally home, he wants to give her so much more than just an apology.

Kennedy finds an unexpected ally in Xander, as she struggles to mend fences with her sisters and to care for the foster child her mother left behind. Falling back into his arms is beyond tempting, but accepting his support is dangerous. He can never know the truth about why she really left. Will Kennedy be able to bury the past and carve out her place in the Ridge, or will her secret destroy her second chance?

Kait Nolan is an author who has really grown on me over the past couple years. The first book I read because it was free, To Get Me To You kind of sucked me into her love of small town southern romances and I try to pick up one whenever I get a chance. So when I came across a new series, The Misfit Inn, how could I resist?

Throw in a second chance love, a hot cop and a town full of nosy but lovable meddlers and I was halfway in love with When You Got A Good Thing as I got started. Continue reading Review ~ When You Got A Good Thing – Kait Nolan

ABOUT:

Navy SEAL Joe MacDermid came to Thornehill Springs, North Carolina seeking peace and quiet and maybe a break from his hectic life. But his next-door neighbor Verna Love seems intent on making sure he doesn’t get any of either.

Verna takes pride in being a nice person, but when it comes to Joe, she just can’t help herself. Getting under his skin gives her an unexplainable satisfaction, and it doesn’t hurt that Joe is the picture of masculine perfection, especially when he’s angry. She’s smart enough to know that he’d never be interested in her, not with all her flaws, but she can’t pretend that goading him isn’t one of the highlights of her day.

But when circumstances force the two of them together, they might find love where they least expect.

I have to admit that as intriguing as the description of this book was, I was skeptical. A well-written blurb, as I can attest, can really make a book sound amazing…much like a movie trailer. And in that same way you often come away from a movie thinking, “all the good parts were in the trailer.”

Fortunately that was not the case with Where You Least Expect. This book is a surprising gem of a read that had me laughing a lot. And fanning my overheated skin. Continue reading Review ~ Where You Least Expect – Kaya Blue

COMING SOON!!! ~ Best Of My Love

My name is Andrea Larson but everyone calls me Dre.

After college I was supposed to return to my hometown of Emerald Creek and set up an online travel business with my high school sweetheart.

Then I got the call. My best friend needed me.

In Emerald Creek.

I haven’t seen Erick in a decade, maybe more.

Now we’re in the same town where we fell in love and avoiding him isn’t possible.

My name is Erick but everyone knows me by my restaurant name, Maverick

Divorce and a single dad, I don’t date much.

My life is my baby girl and Maverick’s.

And then Dre comes back to town.

Summer in Emerald Creek would be the perfect chance to make her love me again.

If I can get her to talk to me.

My Review:

5 STARS

Dark Romantic Comedy/Adult Romance

OH. MY. GOD! What did I just read!?!?!? It was AHMAZING!

One of the authors was describing it as campy, funny and just a different type of book and yes, yes it is! I seriously loved every second of this book. There were times it was hilarious, awkward, very serious and unbelievable yet believable! This read is a serious emotional roller coaster ride that I COULDN’T put down.

Seriously. I could NOT stop reading this book. It’s one of those books that you don’t even want to stop for a snack. THAT GOOD! The characters are so well-developed and easy to relate to and the plot is fast paced and captivating.

I absolutely love Adult Romances, Dark Romances and sometimes Romantic Comedies (Rom Com). Usually Rom Coms aren’t my thing. They tend to be cheesy and mildly annoying but this book was…

ABOUT:

Big girls don’t cry.
They go after what they want.

Thanks to her bangin’ curves, Valerie Carmichael has always turned heads-with the exception of seriously sexy Logan Mathis. Just Valerie’s luck that the object of her lust-filled affection is also best friends with her overprotective brother. But Valerie’s determined to get Logan’s attention . . . even if it means telling a teeny little lie to get a job at his new bar.

Logan can’t remember a time when Valerie didn’t secretly fuel all his hottest fantasies. Now the curvaceous she-devil is working behind his bar, tempting him every damn night. It’s only when he finds Valerie’s naughty things-to-do list that Logan decides to break every rule in the book-by making each red-hot deed a reality.

No one warned them that they were going to fall this hard. And no one warned them that sometimes the smallest secrets can have the biggest consequences.

So I love the sibling’s best friend romance trope and anytime a story contains it and meets my other criteria, I can’t wait to dig in and get started. And when that childhood crush lingers, persists until they meet again…as adults? Well I am all over those stories! On The Plus Side started out great and I was intrigued with Valerie’s feistiness, her fierce confident attitude and her potty mouth! Valerie is a pretty great character who embraces her curves and makes sure the rest of the world does too. Continue reading Review ~ On The Plus Side – Alison Bliss

COVER REVEAL!!!! ~ Best Of My Love by N.D. Jackson

I am so excited to show you my new cover for my upcoming novel, Best Of My Love. This year things, mostly my day job as a writer, have conspired against me finishing this novel as quickly as I wanted but I’m grateful for it because I’ve been playing around with this story for a year or more but I never knew quite where I wanted it to go.

Writing a second chance romance that comes with so much baggage isn’t easy and when the heroine, Dre, has the kind of baggage she has it gets even more complicated. But that’s for another time…

Best Of My Love – COMING SOON!

ABOUT:

Professor Audrey Graham shouldn’t be alive. But she didn’t walk away from the accident that should’ve taken her life. She shouldn’t have ever walked again according to the doctors. But after two years of physical therapy and countless surgeries, she’s got a second lease on life. First stop? Camp Firefly Falls to try and catch up on some of the living she never did before her accident.

Firefighter Hudson Lowell shouldn’t be alive. In the wake of losing two members of his team in a structure fire gone wrong, he’s been unable to work, unable to pull himself out of the survivor’s guilt. In a last ditch effort to snap him out of it, his family surprises him with a 2 week reunion session at Camp Firefly Falls, reminder of a simpler, better time. The last thing he expects to find is the woman he helped cut out of a snarled up wreck of a car two years before.

As sparks ignite between rescuer and rescuee, Audrey finally gets the chance to repay her hero. But can she convince this proud, stubborn man that life is still worth living? Or will Hudson let this chance at happiness slip through his fingers?

Not only do I LOVE the idea of a summer camp for adults but I cannot resist a big sexy hero who doesn’t think he’s a hero like Hudson in Second Chance Summer. Audrey and Hudson met two years before camp when he saved her life during a horrific auto accident. His deep sexy voice kept her calm which probably kept her alive while they pulled her mangled body from the wreck. One of the things he talked about was his time a Camp Firefly Falls and she promptly added it to her bucket list.

With a premise like that, I couldn’t wait to dig in and from the moment they met I was hit with major case of the feels. Audrey is determined to live her life to the fullest because prior to her accident she’d basically been living for her parents. As a child genius there were a lot of expectations placed on her and she was committed to living up to each and every one of them. But her accident changed everything and the excitement and exuberance with which she takes on every task was intoxicating even on the pages of my Kindle.

Audrey and Hudson together were a fiery match that shouldn’t have fit so well together, but holy crap did they ever! He didn’t want to be anyone’s hero after his own tragedy left a black mark on his heart. That only made me love him more, especially when he so wholly threw himself into helping Audrey during Field Day.

Maybe it’s because of my own summer camp experience but the intensity, the fun and the activities all combined to make for a thrilling experience that had me smiling—okay and tearing up a little—from beginning to end.

Now please tell me that Charlie and Rebecca have a story out there or coming soon???

Another gem from Camp Firefly Falls!!!

ABOUT:

From the time Brooke Green was seven years old, she has lived with the pain of losing her mother. Her father has done the best job he could in raising her, but a piece of her always felt empty. On the day of her father’s funeral, her grandmother breaks the shocking news: her mother, Sarah, is very much alive. She abandoned her family because she claimed she wasn’t fit for motherhood.

After doing some research, Brooke discovers her mother is living in Atlanta, enjoying a great career…and a brand new family. Stunned, Brooke doesn’t know if she wants answers or revenge against the mother who abandoned her. When she meets Sarah’s husband, Tony, Brooke sees the perfect way to make her mother pay. But her plan for revenge just may leave everyone in danger, and end up costing Brooke more than she ever bargained for.

So this book definitely had potential but for me it didn’t quite hit the mark which is why I’m giving it 3.75 stars. I’ll start with perhaps my biggest bias; a book written in the first person has to be really, truly great in order for me to get over that. Unless the character is fascinating or incredibly intelligent I don’t really want to hear every mundane thought in their head and this one had more than a little. Continue reading NEW RELEASE!!!
