Top 5 Small Town Romance Series

As you know I really love a small town romance. There’s something about the quirky cast of characters, the charming local businesses and the uniqueness that comes with it that I crave. And sure it may (or may not) have inspired my own small town series, Mustang Prairie.

But I am squarely on the small town romance train and today I’m going to convince you why you should to. It isn’t just the homegrown hotties who protect the town as Sheriff or fight fires and gets beloved pets from very high spots, or the sassy small town girls who love them. Okay maybe it’s some of that. It’s also the opportunity it provides the author and the reader, to get lost in a fictional town and all the goings on of the people who live there.

If you haven’t read a small town romance or you haven’t found the town to capture your imagination and steal your heart, by the time this post is finished you will.

This was the very first small town romance series that sucked me right in. I found one of the stories for free a few years ago and I systematically read all the ones that had already been published until I was all caught up. Kait Nolan is an author who has really grown on me over the past couple years. The first book I read because it was free, To Get Me To You kind of sucked me into her love of small town southern romances and I try to pick up one whenever I get a chance. So when I came across a new series, The Misfit Inn, how could I resist?

I have to admit that as intriguing as the description of this book was, I was skeptical. A well-written blurb, as I can attest, can really make a book sound amazing…much like a movie trailer. And in that same way you often come away from a movie thinking, “all the good parts were in the trailer.”

Foolish Expectations is a small town romance that tells the story of Bailey and Nash. To say they were a one night stand would be accurate but also doesn’t get anywhere near telling the whole story, but I don’t want to give away the good stuff so I won’t. I really enjoyed It Started With A Kiss. There was something about this novel, written by Marina Adair that reminded me of one of my favorite authors, Jill Shalvis. Maybe it was the wilderness or maybe it was the big wild mountain man who was a walking, talking ad for sex. The story pulls you right in starting with a horny old senior and a half-written but suggestive note left in lipstick.
